PLACEMENT TESTS & UNIFORM FITTINGS
All new students are required to take one or more placement tests. Placement tests are offered at Montrose on the following dates: May 19, 20 and 21, all at 3:30 PM. In addition, after the placement tests your daughter will have an opportunity to try on a Montrose uniform to determine sizing.
Placement test details:
- Girls entering grades 6-8 will take a math placement test only. This test will take approximately one hour. Calculators will not be used for this test.
- Girls entering grade 9 will take both a math and an English placement test. These tests will take approximately 1.5 hours total. If your daughter is interested in taking Honors Biology, an optional Biology test will take an additional 30 minutes. Please bring a calculator for the grade 9 math test.
- Girls entering grades 9-11 will have the option at a later date to take a one-hour language placement test in Spanish, French or Latin. Language placement tests are offered to students who would like to take a class above their grade level, for example Spanish II for a 9th grader, or AP French for a 10th grader. Our language faculty will reach out to those registered to find a mutually convenient date and time.
- Girls entering grades 10-12, should contact the Admission Office, as recommended placement tests may vary from student to student.
PLACEMENT TEST PROCESS:
- Please drop off your daughter at 3:30 PM at Montrose on the day of her placement test.
- There will be a brief meeting for parents at 3:45 PM to explain the placement process. After that, you are invited to return at the conclusion of her testing to help your daughter determine uniform sizes.
- Register via the button below. If you have more than one daughter entering Montrose School this fall, please complete a separate form for each girl.
